I am sure that at one time or another we have all dreamed of being a princess walking around in our high heel shoes looking beautiful and waiting for our prince charming to come sweep us off our feet. Well, regardless of the prince we can still have the dream of looking like a princess in our sexy stiletto heels so long as we know how to walk around properly in them.

One of the main reasons stilettos are so popular is because they can give you the appearance that you are taller, your legs are sexy and firm, your stomach is flatter, and they tend to show off your personality and confidence in a way no other shoe can. The real key to looking beautiful though is by feeling beautiful and certain shoes can most definitely make you feel beautiful, however walking gracefully in certain high heel shoes may require a bit more work.

For some women, the idea of wearing high stiletto heels might be a tad uncertain or even perhaps a bit daunting at first glance. Stiletto heels can take on sizes ranging from 4 inches all the way to 8 inches high with some being a lot easier to walk in than others. There are a few secrets guaranteed to help you walk like a princess even if you are not used to those four inch high heel shoes.

  • Start with lower heels (2-3 inches if you are not used to high heels at all) and slowly work your way up. There are a number of different stiletto heel styles. Heels with a wider base will be easier to walk as well and many stiletto heels have thick soles so they just give the illusion of being super high but are actually no more difficult to walk in than 3 inch heels.
  • Practice, practice, practice. Walk in your heels, dance in them, do turns and small skips to get your feet and ankles accustomed to them. Take them on different surfaces as well, outside, on carpet, and even grass so you understand what you might encounter once you are out in public… nothing is worse than your heel being stuck in the ground at a park because you thought your cute stilettos would be fun to wear… trust me on this one!
  • Start off by walking very slowly with one foot in front of the other. Keep your head up to avoid staring at your feet, align your back straight yet comfortable, keep you lower abs in, and relax your hips and knees. Walk slowly at first and pick up the pace reminding yourself not to stare at your feet. If you are going to be wearing your heels with a particular outfit, you may wish to try on your outfit while you are practicing especially if it is a long dress or skirt. You will want to avoid catching your dress with the back of your heels.

Don’t forget to relax your feet and give them a break, especially if your feet get uncomfortable. Remember, nothing is more attractive than a confident woman in heels, however a woman in agony because of her stiletto heels… well, not too sexy.
