How Many Shoes Do You Need?
This is an age old question that men and women have been fighting about for years. The answer varies, of course, from individual to individual. Everyone will answer this question differently. What is the answer for you?
If you are a man, you’ll need two pairs of shoes. You’ll need casual shoes for running and hanging out around the house. These are usually sneakers. You also need a pair of dressier issues for work and formal occasions, like church. If you are in a very cold climate, you might need boots as well. Many men in cold climates omit the boots though.
A woman will need the same: casual shoes, dress shoes, and boots. Women generally do not only have one pair of each though. When a man dresses up, he wears a suit and tie. One pair of shoes will match what ever suit and tie he wears. This same is not true with women.
When a woman dresses up, she could be wearing any variety of clothing. One pair of shoes will not match all of her outfits. This is why when you look at women’s shoes, and you think maybe they have too many, you need to wonder what they are being used with. If they have 40 sneakers, then they may have too many. Two or three different colors of sneakers should match most of their pairs of jeans and casual tops. However, it is not unusual or uncommon for women to have a pair of dress shoes for each dress that she owns.
The best way for either a man or woman to get the most out of the shoes they own is to only own the shoes that they love. This may mean going through once a year and thinking about what shoes they have worn in the past year. If there are shoes that they haven’t worn in the past year, they may have gone out of style or they may just no longer match the close that the individuals are wearing any more. The key is to have what you love and love what you buy.
