What are Wellies rain boots?
If you have been looking for a pair of rain boots, you might have come across something called Wellies rain boots. Wondering what they are? They are a traditional rubber rain boot. Depending on where you live, you might call them galoshes or waders or Wellingtons.
They were first made by a company in England, known as Hunter Wellington and they’ve been around for a long time. Farmers found then handy for mucking about in the mud and even hunters have worn them, as if you have to walk through any kind of marshland in pursuit of your prey, you don’t want to get your feet all wet.
You probably had a pair of kid-sized Wellies when you were little. Those little rubber boots that your mother made you wear every time it rained were wellies. Nowadays, you find Wellies in all kinds of prints and colors and patterns. If you want some Wellies boots for women, I think plaids are particularly stylish, but you can also find some floral designs that are quite fun.
The best thing about Wellies rain boots is that they are sturdy and practical. They are also economical. You can usually pick up a decent pair for about $25. If you want a pair of wellies rain boots that are insulated, you might pay a bit more than that. Or you can just wear them with a nice thick pair of socks to keep your feet warm as well as dry.
Of course, if you want to spend more money, some big name designers are now making Wellies. I guess that goes to show you that they are considered quite stylish now. Either that, or it just goes to show you that designers are really trying to pull one over on us! At any rate, if you want to spend a lot, I’m sure some Wellies made by Jimmy Choo won’t be cheap. But will they really be better than the cheap ones your kids are wearing?
