1. Know the trends

Watch the runways for the latest trends and colors of the season. Cultivate a knowledge base to lean on so that you have more flexibility with your current outfit options. When you know what colors, styles and fabrics are in being used by designers, you’ll know what in your wardrobe to focus on. You’ll also know how to be more selective in purchasing new items to make the most of what you already have in your closet.

2. Match the magazine looks

The easiest way to remaining in style, without breaking the bank, is to match a look. Find an ensemble in a magazine that would compliment your body type, and then find cheap look-a-likes at a discount store.  Name brands or designer labels don’t actually have to be on the tag to look like you paid top dollar.

3. Be a bargain shopper

Once you know what to look for, there are amazing deals out there. Go for a vintage look (which is always chic) and find it at a local thrift store. It may take some time, but discovering that perfect vintage piece to center your outfit around will be well worth the work. You can also find fashion and make up tips that will help you take a less expensive product and make it look more fashionable. Many magazines show tips on how to replicate a celebrity’s makeup or outfit with less expensive options.

4. Dig out your needle and thread

The cheapest, most inexpensive way to looking excellent on a budget is to alter what you have or just make your own. You can easily make fun accessories, jewelry, flower pins and barrettes by stopping by your nearest craft store and picking up some supplies. By making them at home, you won’t spend near as much as you would for some of these accessories at a department store.
